Coupon Class!

Tomorrow morning April 17th at 11:00 am we are having a coupon class at the church. They will also be talking about planning menus and making job charts. There won't be a class on those subjects but some materials will be available.

someone's in my house!

Hi there ladies!
So I thought I'd give you a heads up and let you know that my brother Mitch and his girlfriend Shalecia have moved into my house in Clearfield. If you want to stop by and say "hi" or anything, I'm sure they'd appreciate it. I'm also posting to see if anyone would be able to help them find a job in the area. They have minimal education but are both willing to work hard and everything. I know Shalecia was looking for a job as a cashier at Winco (still has an interview for Provo) but would appreciate any help for this area. Mitch has been doing lots of manual labor types of jobs, the latest being working for an excavator. Anyway, if you have any information or leads I can pass onto them, I'd really appreciate it! I'm really excited about them living in my house, but I REALLY want them to be able to pay rent! Thanks Ladies!

By the way, I'm doing great. We're settled into our small house, but it is really nice. There's something nastalgic about living in an old house in an old area. My boys really love being near the river trail (just 1 block away) and then about 1 mile either way to a park. What could be better for little boys, a walk with a party at the park! Freezer Dinner Party

Okay so I was talking to some ladies at RS last Tuesday about freezer dinners. Sooo I was thinking that we should have a frozen dinner party and I will host! I've looked it up online and it looks like a lot of work but fun and in the end we will all have dinners ready for those nights we don't feel like cooking! So if your interested let me know! I guess the easiest way to do it is we all bring our own meat and then you are assigned a meal and you bring the supplies for everyone for that meal!

Grocery websites

Ok, well I've been talking with some of you and you've mentioned websites that help with couponing. I know about Alice.com, Bountiful Baskets, Coupon mom and pinching your pennies.

I was wondering if anyone knew of some other websites to help a frugalista out. Jacque I forget what website you mentioned. If anyone else uses a website let us know. I love the websites that list the very best deals at all stores. Pinching your pennies is good but it's hard to navigate and there is so much info that I feel like I'm searching all day long for the stores I go to and products I buy. I'm looking for an easier website.

Accidental background!

Okay so I feel pretty stupid. I was looking at my blog and decided to change the layout. I took forever doing changing the color of text etc. Then big and proud I turned to my husband and said look what I did honey and he looks at it and then say "Hanging out with friends?" what's that? I flipped I changed our friends layout to a boys themed background. So as I rushed to change it back I couldn't remember what the heck it looked like to begin with so I took it upon myself to pick this new girlie tweenie layout...hope it makes you smile!

Hey Ladies,
I am going to sign up to walk in the March of Dimes walk on May 1st and I'm looking for any others who may want to join me. The walk is free to join and you have the option to donate money or try to get others to donate it. It's only three miles and you can bring your strollers and kids if you want...I think it is encouraged even.
I tried to do this last year but it landed on the only day we had to come in and tear out carpet before we moved in and also it was pouring rain. So this year is the year I want to actually do it.
Let me know if you want to join me and I can tell you how to get signed up. Also, get your sisters, mothers, brothers, fathers, cousins, uncles, aunts, grandmas, grandpas, husbands, in-laws and friends to join us!

Three barrel curling iron?

So tonight I have a hot date. (yeah that's right I said it) Does anyone have a three barrel curling iron that they wouldn't mind me borrowing for tonight? I've always wanted to do my hair that way but no one in my family has one or has ever used one. I wanted to go to DI today to see if they had a used one, but I think the chances are slim and I am not able to leave the house today (too many kids, too few carseats and seats in general).

No worries if no one has one. Does anyone have any other ideas of nice ways to do hair for an evening out?

MAgazines

Does anyone stock pile on home decor magazines that I could borrow. I need a thousand ideas before I can decide what I want to with my home. If you want them back, I'll be happy to return them. But if you have a pile of magazine subscriptions that pile up, I'd love to take a peek at them before they get recycled. Thanks.

Do you have what I'm looking for?

So - since you're all just sitting home hanging out... I need you to check around your house for a couple of items. First I need a men's xl coveralls suit that I can borrow for a few days. It has to be pretty clean (not a ton of stains).

I also am looking for kids pants that have back pockets and are no longer usable that I can cut up for a project I'm working on. It doesn't have to be jeans, but the heavier material would be better.

De-junking

Spring is just around the corner (maybe) but I am getting into that de-clutter mood already considering we've just had Christmas and both of our kids birthdays already this year. Time to get rid of the junk. Maybe we could arrange a time where we could all drop off our junk, take a minute to take a peak at each others junk to see if there are any treasures for ourselves, and then we can either D.I. it or freecycle it. Just a thought. If I don't hear from ya, I'll just get rid of my own junk and you can get rid of yours and none will be the wiser!

Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Hello Friends,

It's Jacque the Elf here. I am doing lots of home-made gifts this year and I have put a lot of time into these projects so I thought I would share them to see if anyone else is needing a little something to put in someone's stocking. I hope you don't mind me using the Friend Blog to advertise.

The first is a Family Home Evening Kit. There are 12 ready-to-play games (that's one game per month). I made it for my sister by printing the games off, putting them in sheet protectors and then into a binder. There is only one game that has pieces to go along with it, the rest consist just of the game board and instructions. It's up to you if you want to prepare the binder for someone, or just give them the CD with the games ready to print.

I'm selling the CDs in a case for 5$ each. I've included some sample games below so you have an idea of what you are getting.

Book of Mormon Clue comes with pieces and another page to the board.

The next project is personalized. I've made a calendar template for 2010 that showcases your family pictures. These are great grandparent gifts! It's $3 and all you have to do is either email me or give me disk with about 20 of your pictures and I can just email them right to you. It's up to you what you do with them from there. Below are a few things I chose to do.



Here I took blocks and modged podged the photos. You can purchase the blocks for $2.

Here, I took a CD case and used it to make a stand. The case stores all the months not currently being used.

And of course there is the traditional desk calendar where you can bind into a flip chart calendar.
