Attention Shoppers

So I went to Smiths tonight and they had some great crayola stuff on sale. If you go to the end of the seasonal aisle there is a display with markers and color wonder and twistables, all that stuff that is mostly empty but somethings are there. So I went down the school supplies aisle and they were there but not marked down. But they rang up on sale. I got some markers for $1.25 and some colored pencils things for .97 so Pip Squeaks for 1.25 and some color wonder mini packets with markers and pad for $1.35. Anyways, I always love these sales because we use up our art supplies so fast!!!!

I did make it an invite only blog so if you want to be invited just post your email in the comment section of this post and I will invite you. Thanks everyone and have a very Merry Christmas!

The Polls Have Spoken

Looks like our Girls Night Out will be Thursday, January 22nd. Now for the where...I wasn't sure if anyone wanted to venture out of Layton to the Salt Lake or Ogden area. So any ideas before the next poll would be great! I'll give it a couple days before I post the "where" poll. Start throwing out those ideas!
I know I'm a little late on the uptake, but I wanted to know what everyone's "Christmas Countdown" or Other Christmas Traditions were. I hear of the cutest ideas and thought about maybe incorporating some for next year! So share, share, share!!! I know we have TONS of creativity out there!

Here' what we do. It's from when I was a little girl. It's our "punch" calendar. Every night the boys take turns "punching" (very softly) out one of the numbers and then they get the treat that's inside. And for the 24th we always have treats plus a note to open one present which is of course Jammies!

2009 activity interest

So I am trying to figure out what people want to do for activities this year. I am going to post yet another vote. If you could vote for what you are interested in that would be great. Also if there are any ideas of kinds of things you would like to do for activities please comment or let me know. We want to make sure that we do activities where there is genuine interest. Since you can only vote on one thing, pick the item you have the most interest in.

Temple Open House

Here is the link to get tickets to the Draper Temple open house. We are taking the kids, we took them to Twin Falls and they thought it was neat to see what was inside. You do not have to be a member of the church to go and your kids don't have to be a certain age to go. So basically everyone can go you just have to get a ticket.

Nia class

Ok Ladies,

I teach this awesome movement class (also call exercise class) call Nia. It's a combination of Dance Arts, Martial Art, and Healing Arts (ie yoga), put to fun different music, and done barefoot. I'm hoping to get a free/donation class going to introduce others to Nia and also to help me get into better teaching shape.

What I love about Nia is I can workout for an hour and it feels like I was playing for definitely not that long. It's intended to be easy on the body (ie no jaring or rough movement on the joints). You can make it as difficult of a workout as you want (ask Nadine Washburn I taught a class for Relif Society and she thought she was going to have to go running afterword, didn't go running, and was still quite sore a couple days later!) You can also do this pregnant, I taught quite a ways through my last pregnancy, and had friend who did nia up to the day before giving birth and was back within a week, yes she is quite a super woman!

The class will be Tuesdays at 7pm. Is there any interest? If you're interested does that day and time work for you? If they don't work for you, what day and time would work better? I also will be teaching Nia at the Clearfield Aquatic Center starting January 8 at 10am. That class will cost $40 for an 8 week class for Clearfield residents ($45 for non-residents).

Chech out Nia at the official Nia website http://www.nianow.com/

Black Tablecloths

Since most of us are in the same ward...I was wondering if anybody has any black tablecloths that I can borrow on Dec. 5th. I'm one of the activity days leaders and we are having a big End of Year Recognition for the girls and their parents. I am so excited it should be absolutely wonderful. I have a couple black tablecloths of my own but need a few more. I know everyone has white and white is easy to come by so I thought I'd reach out to all you blog buddies for help!

Stickers

I am looking for cheep stickers. What I want is to find somewhere that still sells them on the rolls (where you just tear off a section for .25) so I can buy a bunch of different stickers for not a lot of money. If anyone knows where I can get some let me know.
Also, many of you have still not invited me to read your personal blogs.
** sniff, sniff **
I promise I am not some crazy stalker. I just like to see what you guy are up to.

I have my hat blog up...

Introductions

I thought it might be nice if we did a roll call kinda thing. I think some of us know each other but others only know a couple of us. So comment and tell us about you and how you found your way to the blog.

Thanks Sharida!

I am so excited to be invited to this very elite group! :) How fun to get to know all of you better! I don't have much to share, but I'll come up with something from time to time!

Crayon roll and other fun crafts

I love the crayon roll idea. I think I'm going to make one for Hannah for Christmas. Does anyone crochet around the edge of blankets and burp clothes? I have done a little of it and have some really cool websites with instructions and patterns. Just thought I would ask before posting those links. Not everyone is into it, but it's kind of fun.

Book Club

Hey, just wanted to let everybody know, we have started a little book club in the nieghborhood and everybody is invited! We have already met a couple of times, and it has been so much fun to get together, eat treats, and chat (a little about the book, a lot about everything else). We meet the first Thursday of each month at 8:00 p.m. We are skipping December because it is so crazy, but will be meeting again in January. The book we are reading this time is The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands by Dr. Laura. Let me just tell you, I have read it and think it is a great book, and it was very helpful to my marraige. However, keep in mind Dr. Laura is pretty much the anti-feminist, and does get a little crazy (in my opinion) with some of her ideas. So, it should make for some interesting conversation! I would love to see what you all think of it. Everybody get reading!

P.S. I can't remember where we are meeting in January, I will let you know.

Needing my fix

So I am kinda new to blogging. I always said it wasn't my kind of thing, but lately I am really in need of a link to the outside world and some rational conversation. This blog Stacey started is great. I wont post much but it is nice to read and see what every one else is up to. I get a little jealous because your lives all are so much more interesting then I mine. But anyway, I am posting this to ask if those of you who have private personal blogs wouldn't mind adding me to your invite list. My email is kyleesadler@msn.com. Don't feel you have to add me if you don't want to, but I think I am getting addicted to eavesdropping into other peoples lives. Thanks.

Our Blog Music Player

So I was thinking it'd be fun to add some of all of our favorite "chick" songs! So I thought we could use this post for everyone to list their fav's and then I can compile all them in a album and post them to the website. I figured we'd give it to the end of the week for anyone who wanted to contribute. What do ya think?

Blog List

I couldn't make the blog list add anyone else either. Jessica is right if you missed her comment. Just click on their name and you can see all their blogs. It seems you can still add to the special website list so continue to do that!! Remember I know who you are...

How do you add to the "blog list"?

I know I can be totally retarded, but how do you add to the blog list? I tried to add mine, but I'm clueless. I'm sure I'm missing something simple...

Wedding coordinator

Wow, what talent we have right here in our little neighborhood. I didn't know you were a wedding coordinator Sharida. That is so cool. Again I must draw everyone's attention to her blog, very cool. Next time a friend gets married I'll tell them about you.

Good deal!

Ok, Macey's now has 2 lb. Western Family cheese for $4.99!!!! WOW!

Dinner In December

So it looks like we are going to do the second week in December on Friday. That makes is Dec 12. I know that is a long time from now but I guess it gives us more time to save the day. I am putting up the other poll now too so we can have it all planned before Thanksgiving happens and we are all so busy. This way we can find out what is going on now and plan on it. Also tomorrow night Nov 18th is an activity at church it is at 6:30 in the primary room, there is dinner, classes and a christmas craft. If anyone wants to go with me let me know. I hate going to things alone and hey they are feeding me!!!

Annie you rock!!!

Wow, everyone check out her blog with her photography biz pictures. You are really good Annie!! I'll have to talk with you next time I need photos done, or about how to decorate my house, you have a great artistic style. Really awesome photos, do you have some of the bountiful temple?

Thursday, November 13, 2008

Aprons

Anyone have a cute pattern for an apron?? I got some cute fall and christmas fabric and thought they would make cute aprons but I don't have a pattern. The kids love to cook so I thought I would make us matching ones and they would like that. Kenzie is mad that the other two already have one and she doesn't and they don't like to share!

Sale

Smiths and Albertsons are having their 10 for 10 sale. We just went and got cereal for about $1.50 a box. I do it every time they have a sale and stock up!!

Western Family Free Product

Well to those of you who do not know me..I'm Melissa Kelley, my family and I just moved into our first house on 2237south 350west (Leanna Choates old home) Someone posted about wanting to know about good deals and stuff like that so if you don't know, Western Family has a free product every week. If you go to www.mywesternfamily.com then choose if you have high speed internet or not. Then click on webisode spot. It makes you watch a commercial on western family product before being able to print off the coupon (I just skip to the end). It's a great way to try new things and it's free so I can't complain. Have fun.

Fun Game

I saw this on one of my friends blogs and it made me laugh. I was only 9 when the 80's ended but I guess that means I never grew up!! Try it and let me know where you belong. CLick on the link up above. Where it says where do you belong and it will tell you. http://www.blogthings.com/whatyeardoyoubelonginquiz/

Easy, cheap, tasty meal

So I am not the best cook in the world but I absolutely could not live without the following recipe. My Italian friend gave it to me so I named it after her.

AnnMarie Pasta:

1bag large Shell pasta
1 can peas
1 tall jar of spaghetti sauce
1 to 2 cloves garlic minced
2Tbs Olive oil

While the pasta is cooking put the olive oil and garlic in separate sauce pan. Cook for a minute or so. Then add the sauce and the peas (without draining water) to the olive oil and garlic. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer twenty minutes or so. When the pasta is done drain and then add sauce to the pasta. Serve and enjoy.

The peas will naturally go inside the shells for a great tasting bite. This dish is also excellent as leftovers, almost better than when originally served.

Tonight's Dinner

I'm thinking about making some Fried Rice and Baked Chicken for dinner tonight. Last night we had some spicy chicken curry and have quite a bit of rice left over. We'll fry it Chinese style with eggs and maybe some mixed veggies. I'm not sure what I'll marinate the chicken in, yet... maybe some sesame ginger sauce since we're going Asian with the rice. I'm tired... the veggies are coming out of the freezer and into a pot of boiling water tonight. No cleaning and cutting.

Tomorrow we'll do Spaghetti with Eggplant Parmigian and Garlic Breadsticks. It's karate night... so it's coming out of the freezer and into the oven, again. We're fancy people. :)

Dinner

I think we should use the comments to add our recipes and ideas so we don't get 11 posts in one day!! This is so fun.

I want-----------

Some one to post WHEN stores are having sales---I suck at remembering, knowing who is doing what----Gotta stalk up on food storage ya know--- :)
READY GO!
I feel so popular now---My first post...

Christmas

I know this is a little early but I saw something fun for Christmas time. We always go to Gardner Village in Oct to see the witches and get my free sample of fudge. Anyho, I just found out that they do the same thing with elves in Dec. It starts on the 20th of this month and goes into Dec. It is such a great place to take cute pics of the kids. I will let ya'll know when I am going but I thought people might want to know about it. We are so going to make the trip, if not just for the fudge!!!

This is a test of the emergency friendship broadcast system

Do not be alarmed. This is only a test.
Okay, I don't blog, and I'm nearly completely computer illiterate, so I have no idea if this will even work. So, here I go.

Testing, testing 1,2,3 testing.
