Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Hello Friends,

It's Jacque the Elf here. I am doing lots of home-made gifts this year and I have put a lot of time into these projects so I thought I would share them to see if anyone else is needing a little something to put in someone's stocking. I hope you don't mind me using the Friend Blog to advertise.

The first is a Family Home Evening Kit. There are 12 ready-to-play games (that's one game per month). I made it for my sister by printing the games off, putting them in sheet protectors and then into a binder. There is only one game that has pieces to go along with it, the rest consist just of the game board and instructions. It's up to you if you want to prepare the binder for someone, or just give them the CD with the games ready to print.

I'm selling the CDs in a case for 5$ each. I've included some sample games below so you have an idea of what you are getting.

Book of Mormon Clue comes with pieces and another page to the board.

The next project is personalized. I've made a calendar template for 2010 that showcases your family pictures. These are great grandparent gifts! It's $3 and all you have to do is either email me or give me disk with about 20 of your pictures and I can just email them right to you. It's up to you what you do with them from there. Below are a few things I chose to do.



Here I took blocks and modged podged the photos. You can purchase the blocks for $2.

Here, I took a CD case and used it to make a stand. The case stores all the months not currently being used.

And of course there is the traditional desk calendar where you can bind into a flip chart calendar.

Carpet Cleaner

Does anyone have a carpet cleaner that I could borrow?

Really really time.

So I think it is really time that we got things going again! So I am thinking of days that would work for the house tours. Soooo I am thinking the first of Jan. I think it has gotten into the crazy time of year for all of us. When I find out everyone that wants in we will work out a schedule. Erin suggested that we do like a progressive dinner. Appetizers at the first house, salads, bread, a main dish and a dessert of course!! So let me know if you want in. Then we will work out the schedule. And I think it is time for us to go out!!! Let's plan a day to escape and have fun. Maybe pedicures or massages or something.

Husbands!

I am having a hard time thinking of something to get my husband for Christmas. I like to get all my shopping done before Thanksgiving because, as you all know, I dont like people that much, and after Thanksgiving there are just too many people in the stores. So I just have a couple of weeks to finish, and I have no idea what to buy dear old hubby. So give me your ideas ladies, let me know what you have gotten/ plan to get/ wish to get for your husbands.

(Oh, and by the way, I love you guys, its just all the other people that I dont like.)

Let's play

So I have an idea I wanted to pose to you ladies. I am wondering who would be interested in setting up a home tour. I don't know about you but I have some major trouble with the area of decorating. So since we all have mostly the same space I think that it would be great to all see what everyone else does with that space. I was thinking we could set up a night that we could all go around and we could check it out. We could all make something yummy that would be waiting for us at all the homes. See I LOVE to eat. Let me know what you think. I think it would be good to do it soon since everyone will pull out those Christmas things soon and that changes everything.

Craft Help

Ok, so I have a million projects going at once...lots that I've started and am trying to finish. I dug out an old quiet book I was making for Toby and realized why I stopped. Sooo....does anyone have the tool or know how to attach the snaps (like the ones you find on a baby onsie. I actually think I have the tool but have no idea how to use it.

Does anyone else have Christmas projects they are working on and want to get together and have company in finishing them? I just love having someone to talk to while I work.

Labor Anyone?

Okay so apparently different people think I have already had this baby, I can assure you I have NOT! They are taking him via c-section (like my other 2) on Nov.8th at Davis Hospital. I am however more miserable with this baby then I have ever been. So that being said ... does anyone know some good ways to start labor? Please let me know! :) I want this lil boy outta me asap!

Farewell our friend

So we are going out this Saturday at 7 to say goodbye to Miriam. Lets plan on carpooling and we will get Miriam last and decide where to go to eat. If you want to drive yourself let us know you are coming and we can call you when we decide. I can't believe she is leaving us!! Let's go have one more crazy night with her before she leaves! Comment if you are coming and we can set up carpools!!

Miriam is leaving us soon and we need to go out with her before she leaves. I have talked to her about it so lets make sure that we get to say goodbye to her!!! I am going to miss her. She is such a sweet genuine person that is always there to help. I am always calling her to seek her option on things, we might have some of the same paranoia. Love you Miriam. Tell us when and where!!!

Crafting nights!!

OK ladies,

I've bawled enough over my husband being gone this week. I want to let everyone know that every night this week I am having a crafting party. I'm going to be working on all the projects I ordered but didn't get done at super Saturday. I'm also going to sew like crazy. Hannah got a new bed and I need to make a bed skirt. I also have been meaning to make a valance for my bedroom.

So... anyone who is in the same boat (needing to finish projects). Please call me, or just stop by. I know there are lots of people who didn't get their super sat stuff done, if you want help finishing it, I am more than willing to help.

I know Monday night is family night (so don't worry about that night). But any other night that works for anyone, come on over. Even if nobody comes that would be OK. I'm going to turn on a chick flick every night after the kids are in bed and craft like crazy.

Need your ideas!!!!

Ok all you CrEaTiVe ladies!!! I need your ideas. My walls are EMPTY and we have family coming for Thanksgiving. So although I won't get everything painted like I'd like to, I'd at least like to have evidence of a loving family living here. Here is what I am need of:

~ I have two bathrooms and a laundry room painted (almost) and ready for things to hang on the wall. Any good wall quotes fit for a bathroom and laundry. (Vinyl lettering...I am sooo seriously behind the Utah trend. I've lived in Utah for 5 years now and haven't gotten to use any yet.)

~ Also, do you have a color of paint in your house that you absolutely love and wouldn't mind me coming to take a peek? I need ideas without buying every paint sample in the store and making a swatch on my wall.

~I am also loving turning old things into new. If you have and old furniture that you are just trying to get to D.I. then let me know.

~ Do you have a stash of half used gallons of paint that you don't know what to do with or how to dispose of? I'd be happy to take them off your hands for you.

And finally, if you have anything creative that you think I could re-create using my own supplies, let me know so I can come take a peek (and possibly a picture).

Super Saturday Craft Day!!!

We are doing a super saturday on October 17th. There is still time to sign up for projects for those who haven't seen the projects. As long as orders are in to me by the 4th of October.

This project is vinyl lettering on frames, the catch is you have to buy the frames. The cost is $7.00

This hanging calendar is $4.30.

This is a glass brick that has a gerber daisy and twinkle lights in it. Flower night light costs $9.00.

This little magnet board is $10.00 and you can specify the colors you would like and the theme ie. girl, boy, or room like kitchen.

Bows/headbands are around $1.00 each. If you want to just bring your own ribbon and buttons you can learn how to make them.

These christmas tags are really cheap so we have decided to just pay for everyone to make some. Still if you are planning on making some let us know so we can make sure there are enough materials for the tags you want to make.

Patterned calendars are $3.00
Scrapbook layout is $2.00
The ornament with just the rub-on is $1.53, the ornament with the paper embellishment is $2.00

12x12 plaque is $7.00 and you need to provide scrapbook paper and an easel.

The necklace holder is $8.00
The recipe holder is $3.50 and absolutely my favorite project. You do need to provide the scrapbook paper.
This boy night light is $9.00 as well and you can choose between frog, elephant, lion, boat and lighthouse.
The Merry Christmas blocks are $7.00 and you need to provide the scrapbook paper.

Bowling

Anybody want to go bowling?? I love bowling and the kids really want to go!

Play Group

Don't forget about play group tomorrow at Chelsie Meadows Park at 9:00. I will be at the church at 8:45am to start walking if anyone wants to join me. Its about a mile (a little less). We will be having another drawing for a children's book this week so I hope you can come.

Just so you know...

We are doing great with the walking running thing. We started a program to build up to a full 30 min run. Go US!! Walking/Jogging

So I am going to start walking/jogging on a trail out in Syracuse. It is right out by Syracuse Arts Academy. There is a part that is 3 miles that I am planning on doing. I will be going Monday and Fridays at 9 and Tuesday, Wed, Thursday at 9:10-9:15ish. Let me know if you want to come so I don't walk off without you. It is so nice right now in the morning that I want to take advantage and it is always more fun walking with someone then walking alone! APRIL that means you and anyone else that wants a little crazy in your morning routine.

Playgroup

Hello ladies,

Well, my little guy needs some playmates (mom is just too boring!) So I've decided to TRY to set up and organize a formal playgroup for the kids that are not yet in school.

Weighty Matters

Does anyone have a very accurate scale that they wouldn't mind parting with for a day? I need to weigh my luggage before we head off to Switzerland so that we don't get hit with any surprise fees for our bags being to heavy. Help!

A couple of things...
1. We have some cherry tomatoes from our garden and many more are on their way! If anyone wants them, come get 'em!
2. I really want to know how "Pinching your Pennies" works! It is so confusing to me! They do classes, so if anyone else would like to join, we could call and get a class together OR if someone is already wise and learned about the coupon craze...will you teach me?

Diapers for Sale!

Ok, so I bought a HUGE Sams club box of diapers and got into the first package and realize that these aren't going to fit very much longer (certainly not 270 diapers). So, if you have a baby less than 15 lbs, then I could work out a steal of a deal for ya.
They are the Pampers Swaddlers (Yellow Box) sizes 1-2 which goes up to 15 lbs.
Let me know, otherwise I'll just keep squeezing my chunky monkey into them.

Toy needed

Friends: I need a toy bopper (you know the toy that you blow up, has sand in the bottom and you hit it down, then it pops back up). If any of you have one that I can borrow for the weekend or have I'd appreciate it. I need it by tomorrow (Thursday).

Where: the corner of 50 W and 1980 S in Clearfield. (2 blocks south of Antelope Elementary)

Donation drop off Sept 6-11 at Tana Horton's house. Call her to let her know you're coming so she can let you in the garage. We'd really like to have everything together that week so the Elder's can help bring it all over to the sale and we can set it up on time.

Please pack new (homemade crafts or still new with tags) and used items in different boxes/bags and label the new stuff clearly. We're setting them up seperately. A regular yard sale area and a "boutique" area for new stuff. I'm making some flannel blankets and donating a few Scentsy warmers for the boutique. I also found a plethora of clothing and tote bags with tags still on them while I was cleaning out my closet. If I haven't used it in the last 3 years (since we've lived here) I don't think I'll ever use it. It's nice to clean house. :)

Please let me know if you're making goodies for the goodie stand. The kids are excited to sell lemonade, popcorn, and treats!

Community Yard Sale for the Carroll Family

Our HUGE yard sale is coming up! This is a great week to get your houses cleaned up and your yard sale donations ready. Old furniture, clothing, toys, books, baby and kid stuff, bikes, golf club... all great ideas! We're also planning a table with NEW items. I'm donating some Scentsy warmers and flannel blankets that I'm making, Barb's crocheted the best Swiffer mop covers EVER! (I'm buying 7... one for each day of the week and one for the bathrooms, just wash them with the laundry and re-use) The kids are manning the food and drink stand, so bake some cookies to donate to the cause!

Tana Horton is kindly loaning us her garage to collect donations the week before the sale from Sept 6-11 and the Elder's Quorum has agreed to help us bring it all over from her garage to the sale on the 12th. Thanks Tana!!! and Thanks Elders! :)

End of Summer Splash!!

I've been wanting for a while to invite over some of the kids in the neighborhood to enjoy a day of waterplay in the back yard. This has been one of Hannah's favorite things to do this year. So I've planned this Wed. Aug. 19th at 2:00 to follow through.

Anyone and everyone is invited. If you want to bring any fun water things you may have that would be great. We'll take turns hooking them up to the hose. Remember to bring a camp chair if you don't want to sit on the ground (I will have blankets to sit on if anyone forgets).

Come if you can and want to, and mention it to anyone you think may be interested. Our backyard certainly isn't the biggest around but it's got room enough to play.

So I decided that I wanted to make a braid rug. Not so hard but so much time. Soooo, I wanted to know if anyone wanted to help me out. I have everything cut. Rewards

So for those of you who still check that blog like good nice ladies should. I have extra stuff from the garden to share. I have zuchini that is huge, we were gone, that would make good bread or pie or whatever people do with it. I batter and fry it so you can only use so much or you will no longer fit through the door. I have some yellow squash and some basil, yummy pesto here I come. I am about to have tomatoes everywhere. They are all about to start turning red and lets be honest you only can eat so much salsa before bad things start to happen. So who wants what?

Still Meeting?

I was wondering if the neighborhood book club was still meeting? If so I have a wonderful recommendation. If you are not still meeting, but would love a good book to read anyway, try "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. I just finished it yesterday-its not a very long book- and I would definitely put it into my top five favorite books of all time. So witty and charming. (Not words i normally use, but read the book -witty and charming are the perfect adjectives.) So does anyone else out there have any suggestions for good reading? I am always looking for new and fun books to read.

Community Yard Sale for the Carroll Family

I think most of you are already aware of the recent passing of our neighbor, Steve Carroll. He, his wife Jenny, and their 3 kids have lived in our neighborhood for 6 years. Their kids go to Antelope with many of our kids. They are also on the rolls of our ward and belong to our community family.

This last month, I've seen amazing compassion and action by sisters in our community in Jenny's behalf. Thanks for showing us what sisterhood is all about. Jenny needs our love and support and it's an inspiring thing to be a part of... participating in our little army for this family.

September 12 we will be holding a community yard sale to raise money for the Jenny and her children. I hope we can all find a place to participate. Our purpose is partly to help the Carroll's financially in whatever way we can, and partly to show Jenny that she is not alone, that we are her sisters, and we're here when she needs us. Please let me know how you can help miriamwang@comcast.net We still need a place to store donations the week leading up to the sale, so if anyone has a cleaned out (or partially cleaned out) garage and you don't mind parking your car in the driveway for a week... please let me know. :) Thanks.

PoTTy TraIniNG

Okay so I think Kaplan is ready to start potty training. Some people tell me not to just yet bc we're having the baby in November and he will just go back to diapers...but the thing is that Kap is very ready and driving us nuts. He tries to change his "own" poopy diaper which of course does not work out good for anyone! Soo..any advice on how to potty train a 26 month old boy?!?

Memory Quilt

Project Time

Hi Ladies,
So I've been bitten by some kind of bug...a project bug. It's been too much fun. But I was wondering if any of you know of anyone around here that sells vinyl lettering and maybe an idea of the cost. I've never done it before, so if any of you have some great ideas, let me know.
Also, I think Brynn is officially done nursing ...so sad :( I remembered someone offering some formula and was just wondering if that person got rid of it already. Let me know. Thanks.

No Sugar!

Alright Ladies, I'm posting this so I can be held accountable for my goal. I have set forth to have no sugary treats through the end of August. I am allowed one treat a week, on the weekend. I started today, and it was difficult! But I am bound and determined to make healthy changes in my life! So, if anyone is interested in joining me on my quest, please do. Little Golf Culbs

Chad and Cole are having a little father and sons day on Saturday. They are planning to go golfing and Chad would love for Cole to begin learning. I was wondering if anyone out there has a child size set of golf club they would not mind letting us borrow?

Story TIme

Well, I know this is short notice, and this may be something you are all doing. But Toby and I are going to check out story hour at the Syracuse Library tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10:30 am if any of you are interested. I guess I'll look around and see if anyone is there that I know.

Also, are any of you interested (or are already doing) a play group or preschool? Let me know if you are interested and we can talk more about it. I'm attending a preschool tomorrow from an old ward of mine to see how it goes. But the play groups have been fun in the past and a good excuse to get together and socialize.

Food- Bring your own dinner. Breakfast will be served.
Activities- There is a place to play horse shoes, volleyball, please bring water guns, balloons etc., and any other toys you would like to share and play with! There is a place to tube down the river just make sure to bring your tubes!

Fun, CHEAP Stuff!

So I was at Walmart today and they had all their crayons and markers and glue and pencils on SALE for really cheap. Everything was about $1 or less. I stocked up and you should too!

Friday BBQ Cancelled

Steve says that it is supposed to rain tomorrow. So I think we will postpone the BBQ till another day.

Sunday...

So here is the official word on what is going on on Sunday. We will be having Sacrament meeting Sunday but all other meetings are still canceled. So all you non swine flu infected people better be there!

Fun for ALL

We have thinking of having a BBQ for America's birthday. That means the 3rd. We will see who wants to come then decide who will bring what. I think it will we loads of fun. We can do some silly fireworks for the little kids and all that. Ainsley will insist on a cake for sure!! Might order a yummy one from this place in Bountiful, oh that sounds so yummy!!! I was thinking lunch. I think most people have that day off, right? So who is in for the fun??

LADIES

I have a friend that is sick and I was going to get her something but I had no idea what to get her. And for Annie's birthday I had no idea what kind of sweets she would like from the bakery. Swine Flu

So if you haven't heard we have the swine flu in the neighborhood. They, the allusive they, have asked that if you are sick or if you have had contact with someone that is sick that you let your home teachers know. If you don't have home teachers because you aren't a member of the ward, or if yours are lazy bums who don't come over, feel free to call me and I will let the people that are running this thing know. I think they want to keep it from spreading in the hood. They have canceled all church activities in the near future for those of you who haven't heard. Wash your hands ladies.

I am headed to Montana the middle of next week for a few weeks and am in need of a few things to make the trip without pulling my hair out. If any of you have a portable DVD player that we can use (as I will be driving 8 hours alone with the kids) and also one of those hiking backpacks you put the kid in and carry on your back.

Breakfast at Mimis!

So I found a good deal and just have to pass it on! Go to WWW.mimiscafe.com and click on "join E-Club" at the top. If you don't mind getting a few emails here and there, you can get a coupon for a free breakfast (or up to $10.00 off). I went with a friend today and had me some yummy blueberry and strawberry french toast. MMMmmm!!

A word of caution- I had great visions of us all getting together for a brunch...however, you can only use one coupon per table (and they don't split the ticket so that another can use their coupon...unless you make a stink about it because they didn't tell us that until after they brought us the check). So if you and a spouse want to go, and sit at different tables (really?!?), then you can both use one...or you could just go twice and get 10 bucks off each time. Which is pretty good considering the meal was only about $8. So enjoy!

Singing on the Train

I think we will head down to the train depot on Monday afternoon. I am planning on taking the 2:09 front runner train at the Clearfield Station. The musuem is $5 for adults and $3 for children, we can get a group pass for the front runner for four people for $10. I have two I have to buy so I need 2 more people to ride with us!! If you purchase separately it is $4 each way for each ticket. You have to think of it as part of the adventure or it is a total waste of money! Here is the website for Union Station if you want to take a look. http://theunionstation.org/ I went and got a pass at the Dinosaur park up in Ogden that was $50 for a family. It gets you in there any time you want plus weekdays at the Ogden Nature Center, Union Station, Tracy Aviary, and the Zoo the first Thursday of every month. Thought I would pass it on, it is a really good deal for us since it would cost that much to go to any of those places more than once.

So for those of you who know them, Christine let me know some news. Jody just found out that she has thyroid cancer that has spread to at least 1 lymph node. If you knew them when they lived here or even if you didn't remember them in your prayers. I will try to find their email so you can send her notes. If you have it please pass it on to the rest of us.

Odgen Railroad Musuem

Freecycle...just do it!

So, I'm probably over staying my welcome, but more to say.
I don't know if you've heard of "Freecycle.org" but if not, I hope you'll take a look. The idea is to give things away that may still have a little more "treasure" left in it for someone else to use, rather than taking it to the dump. Things such as building materials, landscaping, baby clothes, toys...really anything!
The reason I bring this up is because when living in SLC, the group was huge and so there were always tons of things being posted. Here in Davis County...not so much. There are maybe a few posts each day. So I thought if I advertised and let the grapevine get it out there, it may build up here.
Some great finds that I've benefited from are: baby swing (still in box), 17 boxes of unopened/ unexpired baby rice and oatmeal cereal, plants and a box of toys. It's been great.
So go ahead and freecycle it!

He's Arrived!

Thought I'd just put a post to let you know that April Jone's had her baby last night just before 11:00 pm. She was over at my house and was having contractions 5 minutes apart and they weren't going away so off she went. She had mentioned they were going to name him William but I never asked if that was a for sure thing or not. And he weighed 6 lbs and some oz (sorry, can't remember). She should be home in three days. Congrats!

I just want to give a big shout out and congrats to Melissa C.!!! For those who don't know, she did a triatholon on Saturday! This is something I could never do and think it's awesome! Good Job Melissa!

2 Truths and a Lie

So, I wanted to introduce myself to the blog (which I kind of did in Stacy's previous post). But I thought it would also be fun to play this little game with everyone. I'm sure you've heard of it. Card Workshop

Gettin Our Skinny On

So I wanted to have a shout out to April for kicking my lazy behind into shape. I have lost an inch off my baby belly and a half on my thighs. She also has lost some in her measurements. It is so such fun to work out with someone and to have someone make you do it on days you don't want to. Anyways, thanks to April and I hope everyone can find a workout buddy and start to feel better. I do have way more energy and feel much better then I did two weeks ago. Everyone is always welcome to come play with us, I hope that our improvements can help motivate someone else!! Go get your skinny on ladies..

No worries for whoever did, I'm sure you had no idea. And it is definitely fixable, it just takes a while:) I put up one from Janny Pie for now. If you don't like it, we can totally change it! You may notice though, her icon almost covers your customize button... it is still usable. Just go slightly over the top of it to click, and it works just the same! Shampooer!

So I need to shampoo my carpets downstairs in the family room. Does anyone have a shampooer that I can borrow!? I would love it! Please let me know!

Sparkly Clean Windows...you want? I do!!

Just wondering if anyone else in the neighborhood would be interested in getting their windows professionally cleaned?! Mine haven't been done in 3 years and it doesn't even sound like any fun to me even if I did have time to do it myself.  :) My good friends brother owns his own business and said if we can get 3 or more of us together he'll totally hook us up! He does an absolutely fabulous job!  He'll do both inside & out and even gets all the yucky hard water stains off the outside from the sprinklers hitting them.  He even has great references!  Let me know if any of you are interested!!  

Need for baby stuff!

Most of you know that my sister in law is having twins. They are very excited but a little scared because they are going to be dirt poor. My brother isn't planning on working while he is going to Physical Therapy school and they are just planning on going into debt. My sister in law is going to try and work 20 hrs a week but this is her first pregnancy and their first kids, she might find it's harder than she thinks with two babies. They are moving far away from both sides of their families for my brother to go to school, so they won't have a lot of family support nearby.

They are having a boy and a girl. Anything anyone can donate would be appreciated. They said if they came across a crib on the side of the road they'd use it. My mother, sister and I are throwing a shower for her on the nineteenth so if you want to drop by a donation before then that would be great.

Don't feel like you need to give anything more than stuff you are already planning on getting rid of. I just thought instead of dropping it off at DI (which they don't take baby equipment anymore anyway) you could drive it a few less blocks and know that it was going to a family that really needs it.

Possible facebook hacker!

Ok I am officially scared.

This morning I received a message on facebook entitled "Look at this!" I followed a link and stupidly entered my password into a login looking thing. After I did that I started getting messages from friends on facebook that were responding to a mass message my account sent. I got a little weirded out and then looked at someones profile where they said the same thing happened to them and they thought it was a hacker.

If there is a chance my account was hacked I didn't want anyone to have access to pics of my kids and my friends. I got rid of my account just to make sure. I can't take any chances when it comes to the safety of my kids. Please let all of your friends on facebook know about this problem.

DO NOT open any messages entitled "Look at this!" or follow any links called fbstarter.com and absolutely do not enter your password to your account into the supposed login it sends you to.

I am so sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused any of my friends. Believe me it was unintentional and caused by a lack of my usual caution. Thanks and let your friends know so that nobody else has to cancel their accounts!

Spring Fling Super Saturday!

So I was thinking I should post our Super Sat. projects for those who don't go to the stake center for church (Liz). The due date for signing up and paying is this Sunday.

If anyone wants to do a project just leave a comment or let me know. The little magnet board is $10 and if you tell me the color you want and what you want to use it for I can arrange the stuff so that you can have the type you want ie. a boy one, a kitchen one, etc.

This is a first aid kit made out of a potholder. It is $6 and very cute. It's perfect to add to 72 hr kits and such.

This is a picture necklace. It is $13. Very cute and a perfect mothers day present.

This vinyl project will be just the glass in the frame with the vinyl, very in right now. You can paint the frame and you can get the vinyl in a few different colors: white, black, brown, bright pink or blue. It will be $6.50 for the project.

For this vinyl project you need buy the picture and the frame. So for the vinyl and the paint for the frame it will be $4. That way you can get a picture of whatever temple you like the best.

I'm still not sure how much these needlepoint projects are but they can't be too expensive. You can do whatever saying you want. There is a number of them laminated on a ring next to the projects on Sunday if you want to look through them.
